NU YERK

I’m back at my kitchen table in sunny California, drinking a giant cup of coffee while trying to adjust to the time change. New York was amazing, and it unexpectedly gave me a new perspective. I miss all of my friends and the life I used to have there, as miserable as some of it was being so far from family.

Last night I found myself googling apartments in Brooklyn, trying to picture myself back in New York indefinitely. Who knows where the wind will blow me next year; I’ve never been one to stay put.

THURSDAY I shook my rump for the Exes of Evil show at the Bowery Electric and drank far too much tequila and whiskey. Found myself at a sushi joint around 1am, shoveling down rice to keep my stomach from evacuating my body. Shortly after, I wandered the streets of Manhattan with a Lights Resolver, enjoying the strangely warm October air.

FRIDAY I nursed my hangover with coffee and bagels at Mega Bites in Brooklyn with my two besties. We spent the afternoon at Local Bar in Manhattan right outside of Penn Station & MSG, and watched the Rangers Season Opener game. Stupendous afternoon!

SATURDAY I drove upstate to Chappaqua to watch my two good friends get married after eight years of togetherness. It was such a happy day, and I am so grateful I got to be there. Saturday night, I headed back to Brooklyn and got together with all my favorite New Yorkers, and spent the evening in a crowded bar where I was pretend-married, and forced to dance to Whoomp! There It Is.

SUNDAY was the photo shoot with Sean O’Kane, Crystall Hadjimina, and Kristin Mooney. We shot at several locations around Brooklyn, and only had a few nip slips. All in all, I’d say it was a successful shoot.

MONDAY I spent the day on Long Island, pumpkin picking without actually pumpkin picking. That evening, I went to Benihana with three of my closest compadres and did not successfully accomplish eating my entire plate. By midnight, I was in a food coma, drooling all over the pillow for a solid seven hours. It was an excellent close to a wonderful four days in one of my favorite places…New York.
